Based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA,
Michael Thomas Roe
(b. 1962) is an electronic composer and musician with
more than twenty CD releases to his credit. Three of those
CD's are collaborations with electronic music pioneer
Conrad Schnitzler (Tangerine Dream/Kluster). The three
CD's are “Mi.T.-CON 04” “Aquatic Vine
Music” and
"MIC & CON 07" (www.myspace.com/mitconmusic).
Additionally, as one
half of synthesizer duo Touchxtone
(www.touchxtone.com), Michael has completed twelve CD's.
In
his association
with TEKSOUNDS and Sounds For Life,
Michael ushers in a new era. His first release
“Cathedral”
is a blending of lush synthesizer, orchestral and piano
arrangements, by turns ambient and romantic, with
the
natural sounds of the
forest. Shimmering sonic textures
give way to playful rhythms. Thunder crashes
in the distance.
Church bells peel in the
night. And rain
gently falls on the
forest floor.
Michael: "I contributed to
three CD releases in the mid-
nineties co-composing music for Rising Star Records'
"Music in Harmony with Nature" series. I'm happy to return
to the genre with TEKSOUNDS and perhaps lend a more
distinct and personal approach. A little more experimental,
a little more melodic, a little more forthright. At Rising
Star
we were always worried about the music overwhelming the
nature sounds. In "Cathedral" I think I have a better
balance.
The forest really is a cathedral; and in putting together
"Cathedral", I had, in my mind's eye, the blending of the
rocks and granite that compose the physical structure of a
church with the vines and foliage of the forest. Add to that
the cathedral's churchbells with the bird song, the streams,
the sounds of nature and you have a pretty solid inspiration."
